At the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh, the capital city, the Arabic Union Catalog Center hosted a training course titled "Introduction to Resource Description and Access (RDA) Applications and Provision in the Arabic Union Catalog."
Within the Arabic Union Catalog, the course was a foundation for implementing the latest international resource description and access standards, specifically RDA. The participants gained preliminary knowledge and skills on RDA rules and learned how to apply them using MARC 21.
Sixty-five trainees from various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Senegal, and Serbia. The Director of the Arabic Union Catalog Center, Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al-Musnad, initiated the course. It is essential to keep up with the latest developments in the library and information organization, he said, expressing delight at the presence of the trainees.
By participating in continuous training, library and information professionals must stay up to date with the latest technological advancements in the rapidly evolving field. He also mentioned the training strategy of the Arabic Union Catalog Center. This year, a comprehensive package of courses was offered this year.
During a splendid ceremony at the end of the course, Dr. Al-Musnad awarded certificates of attendance to the trainees.
