The Arabic Union Catalog (AUC) visited our sister country, Mauritania, during April 27-30, 2015. The visit aimed to explore Mauritania's intellectual and knowledge heritage and discuss cooperation mechanisms between the AUC and university libraries in Mauritania. Additionally, establishing a Mauritanian Libraries Portal was discussed, which would contribute significantly to Mauritanian knowledge. As a result, all treasures of Mauritanian knowledge and culture would be accessible to the world through the AUC website.

During the presentation titled "The Arabic Union Catalog in Service of Mauritanian Libraries and Culture," Dr. Saleh Al-Musnad and his team provided an overview of the AUC and its various services. They highlighted how libraries in Arab Maghreb countries could use the AUC to build bibliographic databases, authority files, and training programs. The presentation emphasized the cultural and intellectual contributions of the AUC, which is the foundation for Arab integration and cooperation. The event showcased several services and activities of the Arabic Union Catalog, including establishing an information network and conducting training activities. Additionally, the presentation discussed the continuous growth of the bibliographic database, which has exceeded 2 million records, encompassing a wide range of Arab information resources, including books, university theses, manuscripts, and electronic sources. Dr. Al-Musnad expressed his satisfaction with the database's growth in quantity and diversity.

Additionally, the AUC delegation conducted a training course on the Arabic Digital Library, which 240 specialized librarians attended. During the course, students learned how to use the digital library and register, search, and download files.

According to the center's director, the Arabic Digital Library complements the Arabic Union Catalog since it encourages collaborative and integrated digitization efforts. This will lead to significant investments in the knowledge industry, scientific research, information and communication technologies, and the realization of a knowledge society. Also, it facilitates communication and cooperation between Arab libraries, universities, research institutions, publishers, authors, and the knowledge industry. "
